My Sharona (4/365)

My Sharona - The Knack: This song really got on my nerves when it came out in 1979, literally it gave me a headache. Years later, I worked with a guy named Nick Cheronis, who confided in me how his friends/foes would sing "Nick Cheronis" to it's beat. How Yankovic-ian.

I must admit I hardly ever listen to the words of songs; it's usually the music that decides whether I like it or not. I'm with you; My Sharona was definitely on my "dislike" pile (and I have no idea who Sharona even was, since I never listened to the words).

I love this song, always did, and maybe should add it to my list, as there are several things I used to sing in place of "My Sharona" and still do.

Helen, I'm a lyric-aholic. But like you, not sure what/who Sharona was about and HATED the sound of that song. I liked Neil,Carole, Carly and James a lot better then the "new" sound that was starting to hit the airwaves in the late 70's.

Indigo, Do tell more. I'll be waiting to see My Sharona show-up on your song list. Maybe I'll come around. Never know.

LO: Don't worry if you don't (come around, that is). Anything with a beat in a minor key I pretty much love, no matter the lyrics. This song is about seducing a young girl, so there will be some who have some moral issues with that as well...

I know someone who thought it was "Mice Aroma."

The Knack performed at RDHS did they not?

I don't remember that, but that's not saying a lot.
