"Writing about music is like dancing about architecture, ............... it's a really stupid thing to want to do." --Elvis Costello
Hallelujah - Jeff Buckley: I know Helen has already covered this song, but Bobby is right, Jeff Buckley's cover is awesome and in my mind organically better than the original because... well just go watch it and see. I have no more words here, except to say - Enjoy. Delicious.

Well, I'm in here listening to John Buckley's version with mm, and she keeps making faintly derogatory remarks about it...
Ouch! Ouch! In my defense, I didn't expect her to tell you I was making fun of it! :-)
I figured out a long time ago I'm the only person in the world who doesn't like the Buckley version. I also only sort of like the kd lang version.
John Cale - there's where the money's at. Since I plan to post about this song, I'll shut up now.
Well, now we know the problem lies with mm; how can you not love the k.d. lang version?
MM, perhaps you're the only person in Canada who doesn't like the Buckley version. I'm afraid I hold that position in the US. But I'm a KD Lang fan, so I have to go find her rendition of this song.
PS: But thanks for the experience! :-)
Willie Nelson covers it too.
So does Rufus Wainwright (you know Loudon III's kid)
I can't believe there are two people out there that don't like this song. To each their own of couse, but I'm still shocked.
Otter, I LOVE the song. Enough to own 2 Cohen versions, John Cale, Rufus Wainright, kd lang, Jeff Buckley, and Alison Crowe. I just don't care for the Buckley version.
But I LOVE the song.
I had never heard of Jeff Buckley, but looked him up after your introduction. I remember his father well. So sad about both of them! But the two lives were accomplished, however short.
The comment I just left reads weird in the last line, but I haven't had breakfast yet and can't figure out how to reword it. You probably get what I mean anyway.
And here to think I thought that it was written for the end of Shrek. Don't I feel dumb.
